FEEDBACK FROM AUDITIONS AND HOW TO IMPROVE BY LISTENING

At Lets Act we have recently been working on our audition technique. Below is some feedback that I gave my students which any parents with aspiring actors may be interested in reading.

IMPORTANT FEEDBACK FROM AUDITIONS SO FAR -

Guys I am so impressed with your auditions this year! It is wonderful to see how much you have developed! One thing I did notice is that everyone needs to react to the character they are talking to when they are speaking. In life we listen - react - respond and acting is no different. I noticed that students were in character when speaking their lines but lost the character when they weren't speaking. Try to stay in character all the time. Put your focus on the character you are talking too instead of yourself and your lines. If you really listen to what the character you are talking to is saying it will help you to remember your lines as you are responding to what they are saying. This will make a big difference to your success at TV and commercial castings. The camera is very close on your face so you can't afford to have even a second where you aren't in character.
